Establishment and Early Development (2021)
Al-Hisbah Jurnal Ekonomi Syariah was established in 2021 by Institut Agama Islam Tafaqquh Fiddin Dumai as a scholarly journal focused on Islamic economics. Initially published in Indonesian, the journal was committed to providing a platform for academics, researchers, and practitioners in the field of Islamic economics to publish their research and scholarly work. Following the standards of academic journal management, Al-Hisbah is published online on a semiannual basis (twice a year).

Objective and Scope
The journal aims to facilitate the publication of research in the field of Islamic economics, covering a wide range of topics, including empirical, theoretical, and policy studies in Islamic economics. The journal includes topics such as zakat, waqf, Islamic banking, and principles of muamalah in Islam, reflecting the broad scope of Islamic economic practices.

Transition to English and Internationalization (Vol. 5 No. 1, 2025)
In response to the growing need to expand the journal's international reach and increase its visibility among the global academic community, Al-Hisbah Jurnal Ekonomi Syariah officially transitioned to using English in all aspects of publication, starting from Vol. 5 No. 1 in 2025. This change was implemented to:

  • Attract more contributions from international researchers in the field of Islamic economics.
  • Increase citations and the journal's academic impact.

Indexing and International Recognition
Al-Hisbah has been indexed by various reputable international databases, including Garuda, CROSSREF, ROAD, and THE KEEPERS, which recognize the journal's quality as a reputable scholarly publication. These indexations demonstrate the journal’s contribution to strengthening Islamic economics research on a global scale.
